SkyBlue is a family company selling mobile homes and lodges on to a network of parks in France, Sweden and Norway
1st May 2009
For those customers seeking something different SkyBlue also offer wonderful parks, all with lakes or by the sea, in Sweden and Norway. Surprisingly, prices of these homes are similar to the UK. Yearly rents are certainly cheaper, and high quality homes able to withstand colder climates are ideal for those keen on the great outdoors!
James Thew, SkyBlue’s founder said, “Having worked in the industry for many years, we have built excellent relationships with both parks and manufacturers. We aim to provide customers with a wide choice of locations, plots, and homes.
As a company we don’t simply pop over to France for short periods of time, we live in France and commute regularly back to the UK (to attend events and meet our customers). This approach allows us to keep operating costs to a minimum and our sterling prices as competitive as possible.
We are international (Franco-British) by nature but enjoy strong links with the ‘locals’; indeed many of the park owners are now firm friends. Purchasing a home overseas remains an affordable opportunity despite current exchange rates. All SkyBlue homes are furnished to high standards, most sites are open all year round, and maintenance required on homes is minimal.
Parks provide 24 hours access and a pleasant community feel with a range of facilities (incl. pool, bar, fishing). For golf or horse riding lovers there are good facilities close to many parks.
Additionally, none of our parks are likely to become British ‘enclave’ parks given that they are also popular destinations with local people. Some of the parks are very new and therefore an enormous range of plots is available (200 – 450m2), annual rents range from £1300 - £3200.
All locations are either on the coast or have their own lake (some complete with private beach!). A number of parks even allow you to buy the land and become a part owner of the park”. SkyBlue also offers a new Home Swap service. This allows you the opportunity to swap your home with another owners for an agreed period.
‘Swaps’ are available in France, Sweden, Norway or even back in the UK without you paying a penny for the accommodation! Renting out your leisure home can also prove worthwhile. Most parks request a management fee but in each case you can find customers yourself or ask the park to do so on your behalf. This is a very useful means of helping to pay your yearly rent. A three bedroom mobile home for example, during peak season can rent for 800 € per week depending on location. You can catch up with SkyBlue at the French Property Show in Harrogate between 15-17 May.
