Retreat Lodges

Retreat Homes are lodges built with a sustainable future in mind. Retreat are working with SkyBlue Leisure Homes to provide high quality prefabricated and modular homes for sale in France.
Four different ranges - I, N, J2 and J3, Lodge 2 and 3.

Contemporary, intelligent and rigidly constructed, the design and quality of materials used are nothing like the preconceived idea of a holiday home.  The Retreat is extensively built from timber, from sustainable forests because it is the world's most sustainable and arguably most beautiful, building material.

There are no faux finishes. Where there is wood, it is solid timber, where there are windows, they are floor to ceiling glass. Several models feature a unique decked courtyard unheard of in a holiday caravan.

Retreat Homes are committed to constructing socially responsible buildings to the extent that we now produce fully sustainable models. The Retreat can be enhanced further by adding features such as solar water heating panels, photo-voltaic roof panels, moss sedum roofs and a wood burning stove.A ten year guarantee is standard on all Retreat's homes.

Excellence of design and construction

Conformist? Technically, it is a caravan and conforms to the definition of a Caravan as set out in the Caravan Sites Act 1968. It is also built to British Standard BS/EN 3632. It is therefore exempt from Building Regulations and VAT (apart from any furnishings, upon which VAT is applied). Classified as a transportable building, it is ready to move into within days and can be situated in places that a conventional home cannot. The Retreat is also National Caravan Council (NCC) approved.

Revolutionary? No other manufactured holiday home is built like The Retreat. They are built to last. The Retreat allows you to choose from numerous options which include the ability to specify any model with either a ‘flat roof’ or ‘fully vaulted’ roof. The model can then be adapted to suit the exact position on the plot, creating a truly bespoke design.

Other optional extra’s range from choosing the external cladding through to extravagances such as timber hot tubs!

Retreat Brochureplanning ahead

From the initial design stage Retreat Homes were determined to ensure that the Retreat maximised the potential for sustainability of design and materials and the creation of a sensitive living space.

The Retreat is constructed extensively from timber, the most sustainable building material available, benefiting from low embedded energy, - energy that is used in the sourcing / manufacture and transport to site. This means using materials that are closest to the natural state. We avoid, the use of man made materials such as plastic or coated sheets for external cladding and man made coatings for internal wall surfaces.

The Retreat has large floor to ceiling windows allowing considerable sunlight to enter each room, thereby reducing the need for electric lighting in the darker winter months. The windows have been designed to create fresh air movement throughout the home, thus removing stale air. The frames are also made from hardwood (softwood frames need to be replaced at regular intervals and UPVC frames are harmful to the environment) Wood frames also absorb sound and help keep warmth inside a home.

By virtue of the materials used in the construction of The Retreat, the home is inherently recyclable. Timber can be reused or reduced to woodchip for other building products, steel can be smelted for reuse and glass can be recycle.
